Humility

Andrew Murray (1828 - 1917)

Murray was born in South Africa, the son of missionaries from Scotland. He was educated in Scotland and the Netherlands and ordained for ministry by the Dutch Reformed Church. Murray was influenced by revival meetings in Scotland and a revival movement in the Netherlands. He returned to South Africa where he pastored several churches and was involved in the South African Revival of 1860. His great interest in the “inner life” is seen in his numerous books and tracts (perhaps 240+). He was a noted speaker and leader in the famous Keswick Convention.
